CASSELTON 12, FRESNO 9
WP: Carlos Zambrano (5-4, 5.74)
LP: Andy Pettite (2-4, 5.43)
Former Eliminators backstop Mike Napoli had a career game, hitting three home runs to run his season total to a BARB-leading 29 circuit shots, as Carlos Zambrano (7.1 IP, 4 ER) cruised to a win despite his bullpen allowing three late runs!

What? WHAT? Mike Blankety-blank Napoli? How is this possible?
People, it was just the latest episode of this year’s version of BARB, a high-octane league that is threatening to give up the most HR and runs scored of any league. Consider: through 84 games, there are eight clubs on a pace to score 5.4 runs per game, compared to this year’s major-league average 4.8 RPG.
And, while Fresno took the loss, look what’s been going in with the Regulators of late in the runs scored column…they’ve overtaken sibling rival Black Mesa in that category, and now lead the league, greatly aided by a 22-1 spanking of the injury-riddled PF Flyers . . .
LOS ANGELES 4, WORCESTER 1
WP: Aaron Harang (4-5, 5.28)
LP: Adam Wainwright (6-4, 5.20)
SV: Cruz (6)
Howie Kendrick snapped a 1-1 tie with an RBI single to key a four-run fifth as the Flyers took advantage of Worcester’s slumping offense: the Eliminators have not hit a home run in five straight games, their longest drought of the year after leading all BARB clubs in boundary belts through the first 80 games.
What? WHAT? Mike Blankety-blank Napoli?
TEXAS 6, FROSTBITE 4
WP: Javier Vasquez (6-5, 5.44)
LP: Paul Maholm (7-6, 4.54)
SV: Rodney (8)
Andre Ethier homered and Aaron Hill scored three times to lead the Tornadoes attack, as Texas played road warriors against the host Squirrels. It was the seventh loss in their last ten games for Andrew Hayne’s club, a puzzling skid for a club that leads its division both in runs scored and ERA…yet remains five games out of first place?!?!
MADTOWN 5, YUMA 2
WP: Francisco Liriano (5-6, 4.69)
LP: C.C. Sabathia (7-6, 4.50)
SV: Rivera (17)
A rare error by Ryan Zimmerman and another miscue by Billy Butler led to a four-run third against the big lefty Sabathia, and the Murlocs won their third straight on the road against Western Division foes.
What? WHAT? Mike Blankety-blank Napoli?

i hope billy butler isnt starting
Nope. Butler has had a total of 44 at-bats in BARB play, appearing in 21 games. He's hitting .318 in limited duty, BTW.
I hope rodney isn't my closer.. I did send you fresh changes like a week ago..
someone is cheating. there is no way Wainwright should have an ERA of 5.20.
He posted a 3.20 ERA last year and is ARGUABLY (CALM DOWN GIANTS LOVERS) the best pitcher in baseball this year.
I bet Greinke's statistics are more life like.
SCOTT HATFIELD (NOT ANDREW OR CHRIS OR RONALD OR ANYONE) PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME!!!!
Matt,
First, BARB has no clue how Wainwright is playing this year, as the only thing barb knows is what he did last year. It doesn't know history, the future, or anything; only what is entered by the owner of the simulation.
That being said, the reason Andrew, Chris and I defend Hatifield is that during the playoffs last year, we saw, FIRST HAND, how he enters stats for EVERY PLAYER in BARB.... wait for it.. MANUALLY! Do you understand how hard this can get when dealing with what hundreds of players in the league? And when he goes to update stats... he again has to do it manually. There is no UPDATE button, or automatic update.
This being said, you tend to fail to realize that not all players are going to play to their seed... I mean every pitcher in BARB is facing almost full all-star line-ups more than once in a game. The simulation goes by odds and chance... and the pitcher is always at odds when facing a great line-up , 1-9. Having strong numbers will help his chances, but no guarantee it will be in his favor. I don't want to get too deep into this, but simply put the odds are against Wainwright, and he is having bad luck.
His season today will help his chances over last year, but lets face it: as much as I hate to say it, Tim Lincecum is the best pitcher in baseball. Compared to your boy, he has better numbers across the board by far: lower ERA, More K's, less BB, less HR's given up, less hits given up, thus a less AVG against.... should I keep going lol. Matt, you have no argument! don't give me this crap either about Adam pitching more innings than Tim... its only like 1 so yeah a non factor. And Wins don't me crap... its a factor of your team more than the pitcher...
Anyways, I keep saying it every year. I think we should take what we have learned from the past years in BARB and fully overhal the league and start from fresh, with a new draft, new teams, and begin new franchises for another 5 or 6 years...!
wow look at all my big words...
Reread what i said please Brian. I said "arguably" the best pitcher, which means you can make the argument for him being the best, does it not? Currently ranked 2nd overall by cbs.sportsline (i trust it).
Now again (sigh)... all people not named Scott Hatfield (includes you Brian) let SH reply. (id email him, but it takes weeks for a response, if any)
oh boy Ronald cant read either.
so why not make another post Brian? seems like being "exhausted and delirious" is the right time to blog.
All i want answered is why Wainwright has a era 3 points higher in barb and a losing record when he was 11-3 last year.
Brian is this a question you can answer???? Can you "show many the money"? (i can make completely stupid movie quotes as well)
thats what i thought, but as you pointed out you can blog whenever the (bad word- a no no) you want.
and you know what? ive put 6 years in this league and have been one of the most devoted owners. With collaboration from a few other owners i built the current rosters that we are using (because ummm we lost them???). I should not be getting cheated out of this league!
wowowow matt
your funny
and i trust espn player ratings more than the retarded cbs sportsline
and wainright is tenth in pitchers
so Brian... if i take "two xanax, drink two beers, and chill the*i took the swear word out because of delicate sensibilities* out" will i be at your "exhausted and delirious" state?
thanks chris nice to here from you again.
FYI- i prefer cbs.sportsline, so we just differ chris.
and is wainwirght pitching like the
10th best pitcher in baseball? or is he pitching like the 11-3 3.20 ERA pitcher in limited time (were seeing what napoli is doing this year) from last year?
Brian i like youre energy. its great seeing you get your little motors all riled up all the time. congrats. but again this is your first season, so the past years in barb are lost to you.
NOW, again (sigh), please let SCOTT HATFIELD respond. Its not that difficult folks, just let him speak then you guys can bash me all you want.
My head hurts. There is no question that given one game and I have the pitcher of my choice, I take Lincecum. Having said that if I can't have Lincecum, I want former Brave Wainwright. (Third would be AJ Burnett for a big game!) He is big game pitcher that has absolutely distinguished himself from the others on the list (Carp hasn't given the innings of an ACE) in the post-season. I am more of a guts type of analysis and Wainwright with his huge frame would not be fun to hit. What is blatantly obvious is that there has been no answer to the question originally posted from those in the know. I fear the answer, but Wainwright has been remarkably consistent and flies way under the radar in comparison to the others/even those on his team! He makes nothing.
The problem I have with stats that I am fearing are less understood in BARB with each passing season are those games in which Lincecum faces the Dodgers (with Manny on suspension, Martin out, Kemp on day off, Furcal looking for the ball, and ODog hurt). That lineup looks much different than others. Or look at the 20 runs the Yanks scored tonight off the gutless Sox. But for Pettitte, who was the Yanks starter, he did what he needed for the win. Can he pitch better, yes. He didn't need to though because he had 15 run lead or something. Just pump the fastball low in the strike zone and get the outs and he did his job. Yet in BARB play, that type of game hurts Petitte, who is a much better pitcher than the game needed.
Its frustrating because that logic doesn't appear to exist. Its a great league, but it is undeniably frustrating at times. Also, has anyone seen individual stats? I have no idea how my individuals are performing.
