D-BACKS DE BOMB ON DE TRADES

Arizona continues to be hyperactive on the trade market, and will no doubt post about it soon. In the meantime, Ronald, since you are DONE trading you must submit your 12-man protected list based upon your current roster. Everyone else: I need your protected lists ASAP. Remember, further trades are allowed on Draft Day but you will not be allowed to change your protected list after the 14th, so don't protect someone and then get seller's remorse when someone wants to trade for the guy you promised not to deal. . .

In the meantime, here's the skinny:

1# The D-Backs sent Arizona's 4th- and 5th-round draft picks in this year's draft, RHP Matt Garza, RHP Boof Bonser, RHP Justin Dushcherer, and OF Carlos Quentin to the Oakeyland Ballers, and received RHP Ryan Madson, OF Andre Ethier and Oakeyland's 1st- and 3rd-round draft picks. The Ballers gave up draft position, but get three potential starters to boost their staff, dump a low-performing reliever and swap a likely fourth OF for a prospect.

#2 The D-Backs sent a pair of lower-round picks (6th and 7th) to the Las Vegas Flamingoes for RHP Brandon Lyon, another low-rent bullpenner. Vegas GM Charles Oliver was blunt: "I did this to bolster my minor-league system and get rid of an over-rated reliever."

#3 The D-Backs then took the third-round pick they got from Oakeyland and a third-rounder previously obtained from Frostbite Falls (for OF Delmon Young) and sent them both to the Worcester Eliminators for SS J.J. Hardy. A curious move, in that they probably could've used a draft pick to select Hardy in the first round without giving up a pick....or am I missing something?

All deals have been confirmed, but when you get this much activity, don't expect too much comment from me other than the usual, you know: rubber room, medication, pathological. If there was a 12-step program for compulsive trading. . . .

I heard rumors of a blockbuster, concerning you guessed it, Ronald? Does the other owner really want to risk Ronald's history with backing out of trades for the 'blockbuster'?

ok to quote the D-backs official sites lastest post ont the trades "Today, the D-Backs made 3 deals in what shocked some fans in Arizona"
all i want to know is how the heck are fans still shocked that anyone and everyone is being traded. ill wager that jersey sales are down in AZ because if fans buy their favorite player that guy probably get shipped off the next day....
