A TALE OF THREE MILLIONAIRES

Two pitchers, with different pitches.

One slugger, facing a full count.

As your Commissioner, it is my pledge that no player (even a virtual player) is above the law. Unfortunately, the age of the players and my desire to support the principle that even crooks deserve their day in court makes it difficult for me to believe that any action, either on our part or in 'reality', is likely to make a difference.

Still, here goes: we're past the point of pleading 'misunderstanding.' Either Clemens and Bonds are lying, or the people pursuing them are. Bonds has been indicted, but other than that they look pretty much the same from where I sit: privileged superstars who've lawyered up while facing charges of perjury. I'm disgusted.

I just love that SF district courts mishandled (or mislabeled) Bonds' positive test when SF Giants were making a run to the World Series. I, too, feel disgusted. These players, Bonds, Clemens, Canseco (I guess for some people) and others WERE our idols. Every five year old in Texas grew up saying they wanted to pitch like the Rocket. In Pittsburgh and the "I want to band Marine recruitment people in" SF grew up wanting to hit like Barry Bonds. They cheated. Then they lied about cheating. Without getting into the separation of church and state, I believe you take an oath on the bible to tell the whole truth before testamony in front of Senate panels. Therefore, these idols of ours cheated, lied about cheating, and lied deliberately with their hand on a bible. GM Caskey officially asks the league's office for a ruling on Andy Pettitte. He still cheated, and he cheated to feel better. I think it was a two week period, and now he has testified and damned the Rocket. SHould Pettitte be tossed in with these idols of ours.
