TEAMS COMPLETE '07 DEALS

With the 2007 season in the books, two clubs announced the completion of in-season deals today.

Darwin, which reached the World Series only to fall just short, sent RHP Yovanni Gallardo to the Pottsylvania Creepers to complete a trade for the disappointing Chone Figgins, who hit below .200 after being acquired by the Finches. Gallardo, an up-and-comer, compiled a 3.21 ERA in 14 playoff innings after going 4-1 with a 3.16 ERA in nine appearances down the stretch and could provide the Creepers with a #1 starter within a year or two.

Brooklyn was probably similarly disgruntled, having dealt SS Stephen Drew to Oakeyland for LHP Joe Kennedy. The unfortunate southpaw, nicknamed 'The Patriarch', collapsed at the home of his in-laws on November 23rd of last year in what appeared to be either a heart attack or a brain aneurysm (the autopsy results have yet to be released). As a result, the Moabs must content themselves with tapping Oakeyland RHP Scott Baker (0-4, 4.96 ERA in 21 appearances with the O's last year), while Kennedy's former club may yet install Drew as a starter in next year's lineup.
