GAME DAY 127!

With just 27 games left in the BARB regular season, here's what's happenin'....

DARWIN 5, BLACK MESA 1
WP: Dustin McGowan (1-2, 6.67)
LP: Jon Garland (8-11, 3.54)
SV: Meredith (3)

Rookie Dustin McGowan allowed only one run in six innings and David Ortiz hit his 33rd homer of the year to lead the Finches to a win on the road in Area 51—or where ever Black Mesa actually IS.....at any rate, no matter where you play, you have to play defense, and the Anomalies made three errors as part of the debacle. Wonder what the G-Man will think about that?

POTTSYLVANIA 10, S-MART 5
WP: Noah Lowry (8-11, 4.04)
LP: Javier Vazquez (7-10, 5.41)

Noah Lowry got all the run support he could ask for from batterymate Jason LaRue, who homered twice and drove in five runs as part of the Creepers’ 16-hit attack----not bad for a guy who is hitting .164 and only getting to play due to injuries to Ramon Hernandez. Alex Rodriguez hit his team-leading 29th HR of the season in a losing cause for the Boom Sticks.

BROOKLYN 5, YUMA 1
WP: Roy Oswalt (13-3, 3.41)
LP: Roger Clemens (3-6, 3.18)

A classic pitcher’s duel saw Oswalt and the Rocket swapping zeroes until the eighth, where Clemens and two relievers coughed up a four late runs, and Oswalt managed to need only 109 pitches to subdue the visiting Firebirds with help from Ichiro Suzuki, who had four hits, including an RBI triple, to lead the Moabs offense.

SAN JOSE 5, WORCESTER 4
WP: Brad Hennesey (7-7, 3.88)
LP: Fabio Castro (2-2, 2.85)

What is it with the Rockets? The BARB-leading Eliminators got homers from Sizemore, Rios and Hardy, yet still fell short to the club with the loop’s second-worst record, as Adrian Beltre singled in the winning runs with one out in the bottom of the ninth. It was the third straight win for the Rockets against the East leaders, an improbable sweep if there ever was one...!

FROSTBITE FALLS 5, ARIZONA 4
WP: Pat Neshek (3-1, 3.11)
LP: Octavio Dotel (0-3, 15.43)

David Eckstein’s pinch-double with the bases loaded gave the D-Backs a 4-3 lead after eight off a sagging Brad Penny, but the visitors blew it in the ninth when Dotel loaded the bases to start the frame and (after getting two outs) Derrick Turnbow coughed up a game-winning single to Michael Young, a walkoff job that kept the Squirrels just a half-game back in the East....
