NEARLY HALFWAY!

Game Day 77 is the league's halfway point. Here are some games from Game Day 76...!

BROOKLYN 5, BLACK MESA 1

WP: Chien-Mien-Wang (3-4, 3.58)
LP: Vicente Padilla (2-2, 4.32)

Casey Blake had three hits, Ryan Howard hit his team-leading 17th HR, and starter Wang worked eight strong innings as the Moabs won at Black Mesa, pulling within six games of first place in the East. Wang was so dominant with his sinker that he left in the ninth with a shutout, and while Bob Wickman allowed a run, it was too little, to late for the Anomalies.

ARIZONA 6, WORCESTER 1

WP: Jered Weaver (2-8, 3.96)
LP: Gil Meche (2-4, 6.36)

Jered Weaver, arguably the most unlucky of all rookies this season, evened things up a bit with a compete-game win against visiting Worcester, allowing a second-inning scratch run after an error by Wright to pull his ERA back into respectability. Carlos Delgado also hit his team-leading 22nd boundary belt of the year to help the D-Backs snap the Elims’ five-game winning streak.

DARWIN 5, YUMA 0

WP: John Smoltz (4-5, 3.12)
LP: C.C. Sabathia (10-5, 3.20)

Smoltz and reliever Kyle Farnsworth combined on a four-hitter, and Billy Hall (playing both 3B and CF) hit a pair of solo homers to spark the attack against Yuma’s Sabathia, who was turned back in his bid to become BARB’s first 11-game winner this season. The win allowed the Finches to pick up a game in the standings in the East.

FROSTBITE FALLS 4, SAN JOSE 1

WP: Matt Garza (3-2, 4.91)
LP: Jarrod Washburn (4-7, 4.93)
SV: Nathan (15)

Rookie Matt Garza had his best performance of the season, taking a shutout into the eighth, and Dave Roberts tripled and scored to jumpstart the Squirrels offense as Frostbite Falls, pounding the last-place Rockets, pulled back above. 500!
