CATCHING UP PART FOUR

We seem to be picking up the pace. Check your emails, another package of stats (pitching) should be in your boxes . . .

WORCESTER 2, BROOKLYN 0

WP: Brandon Morrow (4-2, 6.81)
LP: Ubaldo Jiminez (9-1, 2.90)
SV: Rivera (12)

Previously-unbeaten Moabs ace Ubaldo Jiminez took the loss despite fanning seven in five-plus frames, as the fireballer gave up Worcester backup C Jarrod Saltalamacchia's second HR of the year in the fifth. Brandon Morrow scored on the blast and retired four hitters in the middle frames to qualify for the win, as the Eliminators (30-25) finished a sweep of the visiting Moabs to get back in the Eastern Division race.

MADTOWN 3, POTTSYLVANIA 2

WP: A.J. Burnett (2-8, 4.56)
LP: Armando Gallaraga (3-6, 5.80)
SV: Wilson (11)

Matt Holliday doubled, homered and scored all three of his team's runs to lead the Creepers attack, and A.J. Burnett worked into the eighth in what was easily his best outing of the year as Pottsylvania (30-22) won their third straight to take charge of the competitive Central Division leaderboard.

ST. FRANCIS 11, CASSELTON 1

WP: Gavin Floyd (5-4, 3.26)
LP: John Lackey (6-3, 3.72)

Super-utility player Ben Zobrist continued his remarkable first half with the Friars, smacking his team-leading 16th boundary belt as part of St. Francis's 16-hit attack. The Friars (28-21) are seven games above .500 for the first time in franchise history and are moving neck-and-neck with last year's champ and the Horned Toads who, despite being victimized in this affair, have allowed the second-least runs in the league.

ARIZONA 6, BLACK MESA 4

WP: Ricky Nolasco (6-4, 4.66)
LP: Carlos Rosa (2-2, 5.77)
SV: Bailey (13)

Much-maligned Ricky Nolasco, the subject of trade rumors, allowed only two earned runs in eight frames to earn the win, overcoming a pair of solo HR allowed to Black Mesa 2B Dustin Pedroia. Rookie Ryan Raburn raised his average to .331 with a pair of hits to lead Arizona's attack, and young Andrew Bailey picked up his 13th save of the season.
