The Frostbite Falls Flying Squirrels:
The defending world champs have made it official: they have cut 3B Edwin Encarnacion to keep a roster spot for an extra OF while placing 1B/DH Carlos Pena on the DL. Veteran Michael Young will play short down the stretch, while erstwhile starter J.J. Hardy rides the bench. Due to the roster crunch, neither OF Colby Rasmus or RHP Armando Gallaraga (the former fifth starter) will make the roster down the stretch.
GM Andrew Haynes has also asked GM'se to click on a link over at his blog and please consider voting for the 'Flying Squirrels' as one of the new names for the Giants' AA franchise. Unfortunately, the link expired on Sept. 30th. Hopefully, the right name will prevail anyway!

So apparently the voting for the name ended yesterday. I thought I saw something saying it ended the 16th. Oh well.
