WORCESTER 8, YUMA 7 (10 innings)
WP: Pedro Feliciano (3-2, 2.60)
LP: Manny Corpas (7-7, 3.66)
Grady Sizemore’s two-out single in the bottom of the tenth lifted the Eliminators to their 70th win of the year, making them the fifth BARB club to reach this milestone this season, and keeping the Firebirds (70-56) in a dead heat with sibling rival Lexington for the lead in the West.
DARWIN 6, CASSELTON 5 (10 innings)
WP: Chad Billingsley (5-3, 3.70)
LP: Jason Frasor (2-2, 4.24)
Ryan Doumit lined a single past a diving James Loney, his third hit of the contest, and pinch-runner Carlos Guillen, bad wing and all, came around from second to score the winning run with two out in the bottom of the tenth, keeping the Finches in the lead for the wild card slot, and two games behind idle Frostbite Falls.
LAS VEGAS 10, S-MART 8
WP: Mariano Rivera (4-3, 2.50)
LP: Garret Olson (4-14, 6.69)
Matt Holliday capped a five-run third with his 27th homer of the year, a three-run shot, to help the suddenly-streaking Luchadores win their sixth straight contest, improve to 64-62, two games above their chief rivals in Oakeyland. What a weird few weeks it has been for Las Vegas…first, the Luchadores endured a twelve-game losing streak to allow the Ballers back in the race…now, they’ve rattled off wins in 16 of their last 20 contests: hard to figure!
