The S-Mart Boom Sticks, making the toughest (and unkindest) cuts of all, announced that they were dropping C David Ross, former CF David DeJesus and (most poignantly) OF Rocco Baldelli, whose frequent visits to the DL have now been 'explained' by a rare mitochondrial disorder that casts doubt on his career.
"It's very sad," remarked Scott Hatfield. "I drafted Baldelli in my very first club (The Delta V's) in BARB, back in 2003. He came up when Cliff Floyd got hurt, played every outfield spot, stole 19 bases in just 64 games, really gave us a lift. It's really sad to see the turn his career has taken."
The Commissioner's Office noted that free agents Ross, DeJesus and Baldelli will be added to the pool of unsigned free agents that will be used to build the 2009 expansion clubs.

Another blow for the Down Unders as Chipper Jones was hurt in todays game. He is listed as day to day with quad strain, but as a diehard Braves fan-- he will find the Harden-Hermida List. He always finds a way to kill Atlanta's momentum. If he does find the HH List, then he will join fellow Finch Tommy Glavine there. Rough week for Finches.
