I think Moustakas was the only high school player taken in the draft, though Casselton actually took a guy who was younger (Villalona). I was surprised, too, that no one went after that Deolis kid from the Mets system. I guess getting traded to the Twins kind of put him under the radar for the moment, but he's really advanced for a kid pitcher. If he hits a growth spurt, watch out.

Posey's not gonna be as good as Martin. I guarantee it.

I was seriously thinking of drafting Guerra (aka "that Deolis kid") in the supplemental round, but I picked up Scheppers instead. I think both are a crapshoot in terms of having long major league careers, but I've seen Scheppers a few times and have a better idea of his stuff.

Well, my nephew now has a better idea of Scheppers's stuff, too. He pulled a Schepper fastball over the wall in right at Beiden this evening. The harder they throw, the more he likes it. He also went 2-for-4 against Matusz the last time Cal Poly hooked up with USD.

I've heard of him. I had him about seventh on my list of catching prospects to draft. I ended up taking my #2, Brian Anderson, over my #1, Taylor Teagarden...in part because Teagarden has been hurt a lot, and in part because he's blocked by Saltalamacchia for at least two years.
