GAME DAY 50 ACTION!

SAN JOSE 10, POTTSYLVANIA 6
WP: Dave Bush (2-4, 7.15)
LP: Derrick Turnbow (0-2, 8.18)

Adrian Gonzalez and Freddie Sanchez each had three hits, and Orlando Hudson hit a grand slam off Derrick Turnbow as the host Rockets mounted enough offense to send the spiraling Creepers to their BARB-worst 37th loss. Not much to brag about department: the Rockets, with 35 losses of their own, are next to last in the ‘W’ category.

BROOKLYN 5, DARWIN 3
WP: Andy Pettite (4-3, 3.51)
LP: Jose Contreras (5-3, 4.26)
SV: Rodriguez (10)

The Moabs cashed in a seventh-inning error by Carlos Guillen for a run, and Chase Utley added an insurance home run as the Moabs made Andy Pettite’s first start in a Brooklyn ‘uni’ a winning debut. David Ortiz hit a two-run homer in the third, his BARB-leading 22nd, in a losing cause for the visiting Finches.

LAS VEGAS 8, BLACK MESA 3
WP: Derek Lowe (5-3, 3.64)
LP: John Maine (3-7, 4.96)

Alfonso Soriano, Carlos Lee, Matt Holliday and Manny Ramirez all homered for the slugging Luchadores, with Ramirez’s a grand slam as the visiting Flamingos showed why they are leading the Central Division in wins despite a staff ERA below the league average: simply put, they can outhit any team in their division. . . .

FROSTBITE FALLS 5, WORCESTER 2
WP: Bronson Arroyo (5-5, 4.72)
LP: Danny Haren (5-6, 3.91)
SV: Nathan (11)

New Squirrels CF Carlos Beltran hit his 12th home run of the year leading off the game, and later helped trigger a big inning when his leadoff double and steal of third led to fat pitches for Albert Pujols and Barry Bonds, both of who homered off reliever Mackay McBride.

OAKEYLAND 7, ARIZONA 2
WP: Dontrelle Willis (5-1, 3.93)
LP: Daisuke Matsuzaka (1-1, 7.85)

Jim Thome and Orlando Cabrera executed a successful double steal with two out in the first, and Mike Lowell cashed them in with a two-run double as the Ballers got too a wild "Dice-K" in his first-ever start for the D-Backs, going on to win handily when Nick Swisher hit his team-leading 12th homer with a man aboard in the fourth.

YUMA 2, S-MART 1
WP: C.C. Sabathia (8-3, 2.80)
LP: Nate Robertson (4-9, 3.80)
SV: Otsuka (11)

C.C. Sabathia became BARB’s first eight-game winner with a strong effort, taking a shutout into the ninth, and both Russell Martin and Vlad Guerrero hit solo homers for all the offense that the West-leading Firebirds would need to post their BARB-leading 36th victory.

I don't see much point in sending out the player stats until I've cycled through this set of trades. Look for them sometime next week....
