GAME DAY 40 ACTION

WORCESTER 11, BLACK MESA 3

WP: Ervin Santana (3-3, 2.73)
LP: Jamie Moyer (1-1, 9.58)

Mark Teixeira hit his team-leading 11th HR, rookie Ronnie Paulino his first-ever in BARB play, and the Elims went on to collect 13 hits against Anomalies pitching to improve to 26-14 in the East, on the road in Black Mesa.

LAS VEGAS 7, POTTSYLVANIA 6 (12 innings)

WP: Mariano Rivera (3-1, 1.65)
LP: Billy Wagner (1-3, 4.23)

The Luchadores won a battle of bullpens when Jimmy Rollins (who had earlier homered off Derrick Turnbow to tie the game) tripled in Kevin Youkilis with one out in the bottom of the 12th, lifting the host Lounge Lizards to a win over the visiting Creepers, who are reeling from a series of injuries. The win lifted Las Vegas to a season-high nine straight victories.

YUMA 4, FROSTBITE FALLS 0

WP: Jake Peavy (3-3, 3.84)
LP: Tim Wakefield (3-5, 4.92)

Jake Peavy struck out 11 Squirrels, taking advantage of a lineup weakened by injuries to Rocco Baldelli and Dave Roberts, as the BARB-leading (26-13) Firebirds won their sixth straight to remain six games ahead in the Western Division.

BROOKLYN 9, SAN JOSE 6 (11 innings)

WP: Francisco Rodriguez (1-0, 2.36)
LP: Kevin Correia (0-1, 4.32)

Neither Aaron Harang or Chien-Mien Wang figured in the decision, as both clubs failed to cash in during the ninth against the other’s relievers, sending it into the 11th, where Bobby Abreu’s one-out single off Kevin Correia ignited a three-run inning, and the Moabs hung on to finally hang a loss on San Jose, who had beaten them four straight times prior to this game.
