WELCOME THE...REBELS?

It happened again. To cut costs and travel expenses while playing in the Central Division, Ronald Melkonian has moved his team.

At the beginning of the offseason, Melkonian re-named his squad the Rattlesnakes, but they stayed in Arizona after being the Thunder in 2010.

"I will be keeping this team name for the remainder of my BARB stay," said Melkonian at a press conference to announce the Rattlesnakes.

But it appears that was just a temporary promise, as Melkonian has decided to move the franchise to Philadelphia and become the Rebels. In addition, he has obtained the rights to Citizens Bank Park, which is a noted hitters' park. That might go against his strategy of pitching, seeing as how he aquired Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Matt Garza in recent trades.

Hopefully the three hurlers and new 2B Ian Kinsler didn't move to Arizona yet, because they'll have to find housing in the Philly area.

League observers also wonder whether a recent Yuma Times report had something to do with the move. Apparently, as part of the Arizona state census, 94% of residents considered themselves fans of the Yuma Firebirds, run by the younger Melkonian, Chris.

"Success and loyalty go a long way," said Chris Melkonian.
