BROOKLYN 10, WORCESTER 3

WP: Ubaldo Jimenez (11-2, 3.57)
LP: Johnny Cueto (5-6, 5.30)

Brooklyn's new ace went the distance on just 99 pitches, over 70 percent of them strikes,in holding down the Moabs (48-35), who, despite the loss, retain a one-game lead in the East. Hanley Ramirez and Joe Mauer both hit their 16th HR of the year off Jiminez, who was otherwise untouched in going the distance, pulling the early-season leaders back within one game of the leaders. Jiminez becomes the first BARB hurler to reach 11 wins.

Carl Crawford singled in the loss to keep alive his 18-game hitting streak, tieing
Frostbite Falls 1B Albert Pujoles for the longest such streak by a hitter in BARB this year.

FROSTBITE FALLS 8, OAKLAND 4

WP: Tim Lincecum (9-6, 3.30)
LP: Brad Penny (3-6, 4.65)
SV: Perez (3)

Lincecum fanned nine United batters in six innings of work, and the Squirrels (42-38)
got yet another boundary belt from Jason Werth, who despite a low average (.238), has
surged in production in the last month, punching 6 HR to raise his season marks to 25
HR and 68 RBI and cap a five-run third off Oakland starter Brad Penny, getting yet
another turn as a fifth starter with veteran LHP Andy Pettite on the DL.

Pettite's injury comes at a bad time for the United club, which has actively shopped the Texas southpaw but have seen interest dwindle due to the lefty's health issues.

POTTSYLVANIA 4, LOS ANGELES 0

WP: Cliff Lee (7-4, 4.06)
LP: Aaron Harang (4-8, 6.66)

The Creepers (37-43) snapped a five-game slide with a combined five-hitter from Cliff
Lee (who fanned 14!) and reliever Grant Balfour, while 1B Carlos Pena smacked his
team-leading 31st HR off trade bait Aaron Harang, as the defending Central champs try
to get back into their divisional race. The inconsistent Harang's bad outing takes the luster off the trade bait despite the Flyers hurler collecting six or more K's in five of his last seven starts.

CASSELTON 11, ST. FRANCIS 6

WP: Mike Adams (5-2, 0.98)
LP: Frank Francisco (1-3, 7.15)

Nearly-untouchable Mike Adams picked up another win in relief, as pinch-hitter Reid
Brignac doubled home two runs to cap a six-run seventh off the reeling Friars pen. The Horned Toads (45-28) knocked out trade bait Roy Oswalt in the fourth, but John Danks (4.2 IP, 6 ER) was unable to capitalize on a blustery day that saw eight home runs hit, including a pair by Darwin 2B Kelly Johnson and a solo shot by (of all people) lefty specialist Pedro Feliciano in an extremely rare plate appearance.

DARWIN 2, YUMA 1

WP: Jonathan Sanchez (3-8, 4.90)
LP: Matt Cain (7-8, 3.83)
SV: Franklin (14)

The Finches (42-41) pulled above .500 for the first time in many weeks, as Sanchez took a shutout into the ninth and 1B/DH David Ortiz drove in both Darwin runs with a first-inning ground out and an RBI single. With their third straight win, the Unnatural Selections moved within a game-and-a-half of the logjam at the top of the Western Division.

MADTOWN 6, BLACK MESA 5 (10 innings)

WP: Brian Wilson (3-0, 2.53)
LP: Carlos Rosa (2-3, 5.40)

Prince Fielder hit a scoring fly ball for the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth, and Madtown closer Brian Wilson worked two solid innings for the win as the Murlocs (44-40) pulled into a virtual tie for the Western lead with defending world champion Yuma at the expense of the Anomalies, who fell to a league-worst 30-52 mark. Black Mesa has now lost five straight after a winning spurt triggered by the return of longtime setup man Takashi Saito to effectiveness.

Note: We are currently at July 20th in 'game time.'
