The league blog would write about this a LOT more, but let's just say that league officials received a total of 10 e-mails about this deal before finally getting a pair that agreed. Hmmmmm. I wonder why?
League officials aren't talking, but an anonymous insider did say that 'general managers in BARB should avoid high-pressure sales tactics and late-night negotiations. They lead to bad karma when the time comes to complete a transaction. The Commissioner's Office has an official policy that they require matching e-mails in order to complete a deal. Other evidence, such as text messages or doodles on napkins, is not accepted by the league at this time due to the difficulty to verify the claims."
As this issue went to press, another deal seemed imminent in the East, with the Brooklyn Moabs talking to the suddenly-active Casselton Horned Toads. Further details will follow, once they can be confirmed.
